I Need Issues and Anger

Okay, so I figured out why I've been hitting a literal brick wall on mile six of my runs. Okay fine, it's a figurative wall...but it feels literal. It's cuz I'm not angry, and I have zero issues. Seriously, I frequently hear people (Domestically Challenged most recently) who talk about how when they're upset, or working through something they go for these big ol' fatty runs. Well, I have nothing like that. Why, oh why, can't I have something to anger me that keeps me going?! Or even some good old fashioned drama.

So, here's where you all come in. Since I have no issues of my own to work through, send me yours. Give me something to think about and focus on while I voluntarily torture my body. I'll work through your issues, and get back to you with my brilliant (or ridiculous) solutions.

And really, I'm pretty sure I'm happy that anger and issues aren't currently fueling my life, running or otherwise. But a little bit more energy would kind of be awesome right now.

Someone (I won't mention any names, but it rhymes with Marmaloot) left my meet and greet a bit earlier, in order to go to play in a soccer game, and I've been really angry and bitter ever since. How can I stop feeling this way, Dr. Barbaloot?

i have a cold sore on the TOP of my NOSE. i look like freaking rudolph. if that's not an issue, i don't know what is.
(good think i've still got that sexy knee brace. it's the only thing i've got going for me right now)

There is no Nordstrom in my entire STATE and I had llamas running free through my backyard this afternoon. How's that?

Maybe you should come talk to my little Aaron and figure out what his anger issues are. He beats on everyone and does anything he can to make people upset. Could you by chance transfer that from him to you?? And then you could run them all out! I feel fabulous about that idea!

The only times I can remember WANTING to run was when I was dumped by a boyfriend. It has been a long time since I've wanted to run. It's kind of nice not to be angry anymore ;) that's nice of you to want to share others anger. I'm all about helping so let's see ... I think I'm going to have to agree with the Hoggards. If you could channel the anger of my toddler when her brother takes her toy, I'm pretty sure you'd have that marathon thing down without a problem

I live in California. My husband chose to be a teacher b/c we thought it was a recession proof job with lots of vacation pay. Guess who's on the short list for possible lay off in the next ten days. How fair is that? Go run and get back to me on how you plan to solve this problem. (hee hee)

You don't need anger and issues, you need a friend. There's nothing like mindless gossip to get your mind off how you feel. That plus, sometimes the gossip ends up causing anger, so its a win, win situation.
Oh and if that doesn't work, maybe you could find a solution to parents who go up to the pulpit and whisper "testimonies" into their kids ears on fast Sunday.

elesa said...

Oh boy, the thing that gets me is the Poem testimonies. They make me crazy! No one in my ward does them right now, but I live in fear that one day some kid will do one, and then all the rest of the kids will get hooked. Ack!

And also, I have this one really big nostril. That makes me pretty mad too.

Maybe Becca has a point that you need a friend to run with... but since I'd rather saddle you with my issues than run and torture MY body with you I'm hoping you'll figure out why my kids won't do any of their weekly chores until Friday rolls around and I won't allow them to do "Friday Fry Your Brain Day" on the Wii...

Sweetie, what you need is the internet. It is repleat with countless causes that should fuel your run.

And if that doesn't work, please come up with the storyline for Bring It On FOUR. There is still life to be discovered in our favorite cheerleading squad.

Please come to Northern California so that we can watch TV together. I just read your comment on Folksy Musin's re America's Next Dance Crew and died laughing.

I have the same problem as Heidi Ashworth's husband - I'm in AZ though - I might not have a job next school year.

I think there is something that can fuel you. Don't you remember? CELEBRITIES! There's plenty there. (although if you can really get worked up enough about it to run a marathon you should probably see a doctor :)

LisAway said...

Also, there's nothing on this Earth that I wouldn't be able to work through in the first six miles.

Debbie said...

I don't know about this theory. I have so many issues - yet I would never even be able to run to my mailbox. Are you sure about this?

Barbaloot said...

Wow! So many issues (and suggestions)---it should keep me going for a little while. I think I have a few solutions already in my mind...but I'll wait for my run to see if I can come up with anything fool-proof.

Oh Sheeze- work on this one! My 20 year old just asked to move back home.
She made my life a living hell when she was here before.
And I can't even BLOG about it, because she occasionally reads my blog.
I don't know if we'll let her move in or not. I guess it will depend on her exit strategy.

You could pretend you have a sinus infection and really bad head-ache like me... but that probably would make you want to run less, not more.
Sorry. The most I run is around 10 steps (12 if it's a good day) then I become winded.
Good luck!

I think I do the same thing when I walk the dog. I tend to think through things and talk to myself as I do so. I come back from the walk more clear-minded and calm.

Sure hope you're not taking on too much so that you can't finish your run.

Can't wait to hear your answers.

Ha ha! I guess I wrote my post at just the right time! I totally agree about the all around fishiness surrounding the football player boat wreck. Why didn't that guy just say that he lost track of the others? That would be far less suspicious than "They voluntarily gave me their life jackets!"

Then again, football player never have been the brightest bunch... we shouldn't expect any of them to be criminal masterminds by any means...(though they do get away with date rape more than any other group I know of...perhaps they ARE masterminds after all. Well, either THAT or our society is irrevocably flawed in a deep and terrible way.)
That oughta get ya goin'

you're welcome :)

Aww... nice shout out! Thank you!
Also, not only am I fueled by anger, I am also fueled by my own insanity, so are you even a *little* insane? I can talk to myself for hours.
I also love to compete with myself, trying to beat my previous time.
Now, i think I will go before you think me even odder...

I won't give you any more pressure, it looks like you have your hands full with the 21 previous angst ridden commenters.

I'm just here to be your buddy..

Food is my energy. I just eat lots of food. Just kidding, but I don't know why you keep having these "brick walls" I don't really get em much anymore, but maybe that's cause I go so FREAKING SLOW!!!! Oh well, maybe Joe will fix my treadmill sometime soon.

I remember the anger making me play harder in H.S. soccer... that was some good energy. (Or bad, I guess) ANYWAY, Jake said you should do complex math problems while you run. That's what he does. Try it, it may work and if not, you'll get angry! Perfect solution, right?

My six year old strips naked to answer the call o' nature each morning at 9:05AM he is supposed to be to kindergarten at 9:15AM! Argh!

I so need an issue to keep me going on my walks. Hope to love running one day.

Wait... Don't you hate lent? Can't you just get really P.O.'ed about lent? Yeah, me neither. I think that even when I'm really upset, it takes like maybe a 1/4 mile and the serotonin kicks in from the excercise and I'm not upset anymore, so I doubt getting mad about lent would get me through a very long run. It MIGHT help me walk to the mailbox & back though.

I was going to add my thoughts on what you could be angry about, but there are so many listed above, you're brain has got to be "running" at high speed right now. Seriously, good luck on the run! I am runable dificient (great words), and always have been. I'm kind of envious.

nevadanista said...

Ditto what Machen Family said. Also, I though Gwenyth Paltrow and Hillary Swank made you kind of angry?

It's snowing. It's March. It's not fair.

OMGOSH! We are so twins. I think about this too. You have to be in serious need of therapy to be able to run. I have already worked through all my issues so I can't sustain it mentally.

HIGH FIVe girl! And sorry I have nothing to give.

Oh how I can't wait until the snow goes away and I can run again!!
:~D

...and it doesn't ALL have to go away. Just on the road where I run. And there can't be any ice, either. But I'm really not that picky. I can run around the big mud puddles...
