I'm Glad That I'm Omnivorous

I'm 90% carnivorous. That other 10% is made up of some fruits and vegetables, and cereal. Mmm, cereal.

A few years ago my cousin unintentionally taught me a song he learned in preschool as he was wandering around my house. It goes like this:
Herbiverous, Carniverous, I'm glad that I'm omniverous.
That herbivores like plants to eat
The carnivores they just eat meat
But I eat both and so you see (and hold that last note out a long time for effect....)
Omniverous is fine with me.

Yesterday, my sister-in-law had a birthday which was very clever of her, I thought. To celebrate we went to Tucanos. I can't think of anything that makes me happier than all-you-can-eat meat! Seriously, my plate was 90% meat, but of course I couldn't skip out on the pineapple, friend bananas (I needed my fruit for the day) or cheese balls.

So here's a question for you: If you had to choose between chicken or beef for the rest of your life, which would you choose? For me there's no question---I love food from cows! Chicken may be more versatile, but without beef we couldn't have hamburgers! Which negates the necessity of fries and milk shakes. We couldn't have Sunday roast---eliminating the need for mashed potatoes and corn. Or flank steak, which will be the highlighted food at my birthday dinner this Sunday. Seriously, if there's not beef in Heaven, I'm not sure I want to go.

Thank you, Mr. Postman

I love getting packages in the mail. I especially love it when they're books. Books that I've never read. One of the best things in life is reading a book for the first time. And no, that does not make me a nerd. That doesn't mean I'm not a nerd...cuz I am. But it's not cuz I love reading. That's cool.

Even more cool is that I get to meet the author of my new book tomorrow! And I'm gonna make her sign it.

Hey April!

January called. It wants its weather back.

This was taken at 7:30 a.m.

This was taken at 12:00 p.m. Poor tree.

P.S. My day at work so far has consisted of crocheting one and half hats and watching six episodes of 'How I Met Your Mother.' I kind of love my job.

Dear Self-

Listen---I know you have a lot of weird quirks and that one of them is that you don't like to put a lot of phone numbers in your phone. But that's weird. And you should get over it. It doesn't matter if you have a lot of phone numbers in your phone. You don't have to call these people on a daily, weekly or even monthly basis for them to have a spot in your line-up.

If you would just put people's phone number in your phone the first time they call or text, then the NEXT time they call or text you won't be all confused. And you won't look like a snob when you're all, "Who is this?" And they're like, "'s Schroeder. From your ward. We talk every week?" And then you have to say something totally lame like, "Oh yeah. My's being weird. It deleted some numbers...." Yeah. Awesome.

Stop being weird-

Why Soccer Is The Best Sport Ever

Mostly soccer is the best sport ever because it's the most fun. And it's so exciting. It's a way bigger deal in soccer when you score than in, say, basketball.

But also, soccer is the best sport because it's still so accessible in the professional arena. Tickets are still relatively cheap, games are pretty frequent during the summer months and best of all, the players are still humble and willing to talk to fans. Not only that, they thank you for coming to their game and sitting in the rain! Seriously-how cool is that?

I went to the RSL opener tonight and after it was over, my brother and I wanted to try and get the attention of one of our favorite players, Frankie Hejduk. He plays on the US National Team and is one of the best defenders out there. Not only did we get his attention, he had us follow him into the tunnel towards the locker room so we could get out of the rain and take a picture with him! It was awesome. After he left, we stuck around a few more minutes and proceeded to get pictures with several other players. There's no way you can do that with athletes in any other professional sport.
My sister-in-law and I also had our own arm's-length-photo-shoot before the game. Um---those are hard pictures to take! And I personally think this is the best one. She and I will be going to THIS PLACE on Saturday and if you'd like tips on taking pictures like that, we'll be happy to help.
