Help/Advice! Please?

See these cute boys? And their cute parents? (I don't care about the dog.) It's one of my brothers and his family. Well, I get to buy a Christmas present for them. They live down in Arizona. And I really like them. A lot. And I want to buy them something they'll like. Our family usually does games for the gift exchange but I'm not sure what to get. The boys are 6, 9, 12 and 15. And seriously, aren't they really handsome?

Any advice on what to get?

PS-don't judge me for doing this so late. I just got my gift exchange assignment yesterday.

And don't worry-they don't read my blog so you won't give away any surprises if you comment and tell me what to get.

My husbands family loves Apples to Apples. There's also a cool Lego board game that looks fun...the names has something to do with Creation, but I can't remember it exactly. Good luck!

I think the game LOPC is referring to is creationary... which I can't say much about because we only have Lego Creator (which is like Cootie, but with Legos...)

Lucky you - my boys are close to these same ages (15, 13, and 11) and I will just count my 6 & 8 year old girls as a bonus since they're tough little monsters...

Unlucky you - I'm not sure what I'm giving my OWN kids (okay... well, sort of)

Fave games among our boys: Apples to Apples and Blokus (seriously - Blokus is a GREAT game, and much easier to find these days then a couple years ago when I had to scour online retailers....)

and I'm shopping in Provo Saturday afternoon (my college age brother is staying in Provo for Christmas so it's up to me to make sure it's Merry and Bright) - if you are still stumped I'm sure we can find SOMETHING for you.

and yes, I promise, promise PROMISE that this is in no way a matchmaking invitation... I love my brother... and I love you... but the fact that he's hanging with me Saturday is totally coincidental and I wouldn't want you to think I was being a pain in the neck type of bloggy friend :)

If there is indeed a Lego board game of sorts, I would say that is the best option.

The range in ages makes it a little more difficult. Maybe go on eBay and see if you can find an ol' school Mouse Trap board game. That game was almost cool, if it didn't take forever to set up.

I bought a magnetic dart board for the boys in my assigned family. It is for my brother in his thirties, and his 6-year-old and 2 1/2-year-old. I figure a magnetic dart board equals fun for all ages!

I bought the Marky Sparky Doinkit Darts from Amazon. The name is absolutely ridiculous, but the magnets are really strong, so they actually stick. I saw one in person and really liked it. So, there's my suggestion!

Sorry, I got nothin but moral support on this one. I don't do boy gifts. Girls are way easier. Why do you think I chose to procreate a girl. A life time of easy gift giving.

Good luck!

I bought this game for my 9 year-old nephew, at Walmart, called Cuponk. You have to get a ping pong ball in a large cup and it has cards with tricks.

I actually originally bought it for the kids I work with during their breaks, because I know how much they love to play beer pong, and this was more appropriate. I am awesome.

They are very cute. Nerf guns are always a hit with my boys. I think with boys of any age. Good luck with that. My family has finally put an end to the torture that is trading names. And I couldn't be happier to not have to buy for people who I don't really live close by to and know what they want.

My sisters know all the great games. Do they have 'Ticket to Ride'? It's an AWESOME game! We also like 'Niagra'. Both of these must be bought at a good game store- not Target.

Hit up their FB profiles and see what they're fans of, then try to plan accordingly from your cloak & dagger work…

Or a big box of money…that always seems to work for me.

The older I get the more I see the wisdom of gift cards. I know that people slam them because thier not "personal" but getting a gift that dosn't work is an even greater indication of how much you don't know someone. The trick is getting the card from the apropriate place.

Blockus is a great game. I love Apples to Apples. I love "Bang!" and "Swashbuckled" is fun too, if you can find it. That one was actually made by a family I know... check for a kiosk in the Provo/Orem malls. Ticket to ride is another good one. I like the USA version, personally, but the original is good too.
I'm with whoever said it earlier... I'm so glad we don't switch names in my family any more. With us living in 4 different states and all... and I'm gunning to have this year be the end of the tradition among my husband's siblings too. Because honestly, I really don't need to be stressing over what to buy for my husband's siblings, and honestly, once you take the chost of shipping it into consideration with your budget, there's probably not enough left over to get a nice gift anyway. It just doesn't make any sense to me. And if I left it to my husband to deal with, it wouldn't happen... as is evidenced by the fact that Christmas is in 6 days and we still haven't gotten his parents anything... becuase I left it up to him.
