I Don't Wanna Grow Up

I love the rain. I love the smell and the sound and everything about it. I especially love it in the spring/summer. Last Saturday one of my friends and I ran down the street, barefoot in the rain, to jump in puddles. Puddles up to our knees. It was awesome. Maybe when we got back to her house her brother told us we were acting like little kids.

In Sunday School yesterday we were playing MASH (I mean, paying close attention to the teacher and offering insightful comments). Maybe the person next to us told us we need to grow up.

If growing up means I can't do those two things then I want no part in it.

I agree! Here's to eternal youth!

MASH...I find it very appropriate for church, if you look at it through the eternal lens. In the after life will you live in a mansion, apartment, shack or hell.

Wow, I haven't played MASH In years! That's highly depressing.

Amen! I haven't played MASH forever. Can you remind me? I need to pass on this important knowledge to my offspring.

maturity is over-rated... and it gives you wrinkles - I'm against it.

and I played MASH recently - it was kind of a disappointment though... I already know what kind of car I'll drive when I'm old... and who I'm marrying... and how many kids I'll have... I just need to find out about the housing situation - I like Machen's take on that!

Is it ok to want others to grow up? There are times when I don't want to grow up, but I seriously want other people to...

Seriously... me either!!! I want to run down the street barefoot in the rain!!! Haven't done that in ages!

But the good thing about having kids is they make you feel young again...

wait sometimes they make you feel old, but mostly young... yea, I'm going with that! :)

What is MASH???

I haven't done either of those things in forever.

I must officially be a grown up.

Reality sucks!

shelle - go to mashgame.com - you seriously never played this as a kid? I'd ask where you grew up, but...

Playing in the rain puddles and MASH...it's been way too long since I have done those things. But I act like a kid with my kids all of the time. It gives me a good excuse!

And now it's official--I LOVE YOU! Nothing is better than playing in the rain...except maybe a really good game of MASH. Nope, rain still wins. I'm the only mom on the street who ever runs around in the rain with her kids and I feel bad for the rest of the mom's!

Great picture; that was such a nice day.

And what, if I may ask, was the result of MASH? :)

It's a sad day when people don't mind their own business in church....except of course to calm a crying child.

FOREVER YOUNG! :)

Barb- thanks for the rundown. Totally teaching the oldest how to play tomorrow!

agreed, barb. keep speaking truth to power (in this case, I s'pose you should replace "power" with "aging")

That is a beautiful picture. I miss the rain here in Vegas.. I've been known to go splash in puddles, and make dams, and float boats... Little kids have fun, what's wrong with that?

You are a girl after my own heart! You cant even imagine how happy I was to learn that I am not the only adult that LOVES to jump in rain puddles! Yay! Hope all is well!

That is what makes me a better teacher, I think, the fact that I love to be a kid as well. I love that!

Don't ever grow up then!! Running around in this nice warm rain, well it just doesn't get much better.

We would all be better off if we could maintain more of that childhood playfulness.

For reals! I wish I could've gone puddle jumping with you, and running through sprinklers and playing mash and jumping on the trampoline and ahh...I miss those carefree days! I definitely need those every now and then to not feel so old!

That rainbow was beautiful!
And you are never too old to play in the rain.
Just get a couple of neighbor kids out there with you and then nobody will ? it :-)

PS- tell your friend that is running BYU to look for us! They are about the only team scheduled to pass us in that race!

I used to run out in the rain with my roommate every time it would really pour. Then we'd come home and shower together in our clothes (that's weird, I just realized). Also, we often colored pages in coloring books together. I love coloring.

Growing up is over-rated. My kids laugh (and love it) when I chase after giant puddles to splash in the car.
Somebody wise, about 2000 years ago, said you have to think and act like a kid to get to heaven. In fact, heaven is full of people like that. And I wholeheartedly agree!

Just SO said...

Be a kid for as long as you can. Life's much simpler that way.

Mansion, Apartment, Shack, and ... Hovel? Or was it, Hawaiian Beach Front Property? I could never remember....

I'll never grow up, either. That's the beauty of being a Recreation Management Major!

Well, I guess I need to go and find out about this MASH game!

Nice rainbow photo too!
