Dancing with the Questionably Famous People

It's not like it's a surprise that I like Dancing with the Stars, so I won't pretend I accidentally saw it last night and am now commenting. The truth is, I watch it on abc.com the day after it airs. Judge if you want. I don't care.

Anyway, I wasn't going to watch this season. They announced the cast and um, it sounded really lame. The few names I did recognize were ones I didn't like. But I was reading a review of it, and decided to watch just the one dance...and got sucked in. Just like every other season. Here are my thoughts thus far (don't pretend that you're not interested).

Florence Henderson. I automatically want her to leave cuz her partner, Corky, irritates me so much. His personality is even more irritating than his name. But this week, she talked about her husband and it was sweet. And then they danced to Edelweiss. I love that song. It's one of the songs that makes me want to cry for no reason. I didn't want to like it...but I kinda of did. Just kind of.

Kyle Massey. Like it's any surprise that I love the Disney channel. But, I never loved Kyle's shows. They were too loud and annoying. And I was prepared to think of him in the same way. But, the dang kid is actually charming in a goofy sort of way. Which, quite frankly, is the best kind of charming there is.

Kurt Warner. Well, he's athletic and attractive. Why would I not like that? Plus, he had a tea party with his daughters. I don't care if it was staged, it was cute and he's my favorite. He also pointed out that it's a positive thing to show "I can dance next to a beautiful woman for six to eight hours a day and still honor my wife." Favorite.

I still don't care enough about the rest of the cast to have an opinion.

Waaaaaaah! This has just brought up all of my sad emotions over The Hoff.

Oh I miss the dancing days of Mario Lopez and Kristi Yamaguchi. Cory Baxter, I mean Kyle Massey, did always bug me. I'd say I have to watch an episode so I can change my opinion of him, but that would be dangerous. I would get sucked in. So I'm going to avoid it. for now.

Pretty much the only people I'm interested in watching on that show are Kyle (same reasons as you-- much more likable than I thought), Kurt (am I weird for thinking he's so cute??), and Jennifer Gray (she just had two severe back surgeries, and they're worried about snapping her neck. I watch to see if it happens haha). Oh and of course Bristol Palin, because she is ridiculously fun to make fun of!!

So sometimes I watch the Disney Channel, too ;) and thanks so much for the link to that photoshoot! very inspiring.

This is my first season of ever watching more than one episode (I watched both last week). I didn't see the one from last night. Thanks for the reminder that I can watch it online - does it show my age that I forget that's possible?

Florence Henderson is AMAZING. Seriously, I wish my legs looked that good now!

okay, so I've never watched an entire episode... my girls get all huffy over the immodest dresses and I want to cry when they stretch in wild ways :)

(also just saw your squirrels and fish post... missed it while being insanely busy... loved it!!!)

I'm sorry I haven't tuned in. I don't watch because I'm afraid I'll see Bristol Palin and have an anxiety attack. Not sure when she became a "star"

Oh, and my word verification thing says "mensuct". I'm not making it up. I guess a girl is going to win this season.

Corky? What a name. I used to sing Edelweiss to the kids all the time, especially before bed and David cried half the time. And it was the one he requested more than any other song.

Too bad that can't bring some of those actors' charm into their TV shows. . .

And Kurt Warner sounds like a winner.

I always watch dancing with the stars..
btw.....my best friends brother, who was a BYU National Ballroom dance champion
knows Derek Hough and his sister
he has taught dance and helpd choreograph the Olympics when they were in SLC

Bristol needs to show some personality
Jennifer Grey is awesome
Kurt Warner...well the story of his life and his wifes challenges (no in their relationship, but challenges in general) are inspiring. They are very Christian people

Did you know LACY..one of the girl pro's got her start on So You Think You Can Dance...and her brother Benji won a couple of years before she was one, AND he served a mission for the LDS church

Also Chelsea....one of the pro girls, is from Utah and also got her start on DWTS

I hate the chinese girl...obnoxious!!

Florence is dang good for 76 yrs old and her comments about her husband were heartfelt.

anyway, I've rambled enough
you may already know all those things I told you

I love Dancing With The Stars! My favorite this time is Jennifer Grey. Dirty Dancing is one of my all time favorite movies I loved her in it. Then she disappeared AND got a nose job. I have been so intrigued with her story of the car crash and how it affected her life etc...and I still think she is a great dancer.
I thought Bruno was too harsh with Bolton - That comment was just mean.
I hope it is a good season!

I don't watch DWTS but I did catch the end of one where Kyle Massey did the foxtrot and thought he did great.

I don't watch DWTS BUT I know someone who was on the show as a 'pro'. She was only on for one season. So, can I claim a coolness by association?

I heard on "The View" that Kurt Warner does have tea parties with his girls regularly. He loves to do things with them.

Do you ever vote?

Fine, I might have to get sucked into this show as well. I am a sucker for men who have tea parties.

I'm glad I can get the highlights off of your blog without having to watch the show! Never been into reality tv but its probably better than some of the other shows on there now. I shore hope you don't vote!

True story, I have not nor will not watch the show. I also have not nor will not join Facebook. Why, you ask? Because everyone else has. Yep, it is out of pride, not principle. But I've made it this far!

I'm with Kristina. Once the Hoff was off, I was out.

Thanks for the kind birthday wishes, BTW. Love ya.

I haven't gotten into it this season, and I am trying really hard not to. I got so sucked into it when Donny Osmond won, but I just can't let that happen any more! Someone has to do the dishes in my house!

What? If I had known Mrs. Brady was dancing I would have been watching for sure!

I haven't gotten into DWTS this or the past couple of seasons. But its interesting to know who's on and to get opinions on it. I just might have to watch a few clips now.

Dancing/singing boy left on a misson in May and it's been nothing but testosterone TV since.

I've watched it only once this season. I'm not too excited about the stars but maybe I better watch it and check out the ones you've talked about.

You totally make me wanna see this show! I've never seen it! And funny enough, I've never heard of those people but you've got me so intrigued!

Kurt Warner is my favorite too just cause he is so darn likeable.

I've never watched the show, but enjoyed your analysis anyway! :) Glad you found a way to love the new season even though you weren't excited about the "stars".

Agree on all accounts! I so love reading your blog.

I totally don't watch the show, (ahem) but end up learning all about it via all those tacky tabloid-esque shows that I am sort of (meaning completely) addicted to. I saw the Edelweiss performance featured on "Extra" or something, and loved that. (The kiss at the end made me kind of barfy though...not gonna lie.)

I LOVE that song too.
Back in the college days, I used to go to the hospital in the middle of the night and sing Edelweiss to my friend's VERY ill 3 year old little boy who had cerebral palsy.

I sang it to him on a vacation we took together and he LOVED it and it later ended up being the only thing that would calm him down and get him to sleep after he'd had one of his dozens of surgeries and he was staying over in the hospital. So, yeah... it sort of makes me want to bawl whenever I hear it too! SUCH a good song, and it makes me think of my sweet Ammon (who is still fighting on like the little champ that he is). Long random story - but I love that you love that song!

Florence Henderson? Really? Mrs. Brady's still alive and kicking on Dancing With the Stars?

Where have I been?
