Leaving the Bubble

I now feel like I have officially taken the last step in my 'rite of passage' as I leave the Utah Valley bubble behind.

I had lunch today with three black men. As I look back on my 23 years, I don't think I ever even knew three black men, let alone was with all of them at the same time.

It was somewhere during the "downfall of rap" discussion that I began to realize how much this would never actually happen in Utah. It was a good experience...but I still miss my bubble.

Wow Barb, you could make a movie of your experience: "Three Black Men and a White Girl"! The bubble misses you, too.

Just don't pop my bubble o.k.? Fun story. Guess what I did today!!! I walked to Cherry Hill park from my house and then just for fun I walked down the street we used to walk down to get to Main Street to then get to your house where we would jump on the trampoline, be fed by your mother, and do all kinds of other fun stuff. Oh man, those were such good days!!!

I think you did know 3 black men. Chima Odunze, (I was always slightly scared of him) and those 2 brothers that lived next to Dix A Lix...whatever their names were. now do you feel a little more at home?? :)

Okay-I fake knew Chima. But I have no clue who those other guys you're talking about were.
I knew a black girl, too. Norma.
