25 Things. Or Maybe Just 24.

Sue Q tagged me to do 25 things I love to hate. But some of these things I just plain hate. Is that okay? Good---I thought you'd agree. Oh and also, I'm only doing 24. And also again, I'm changing it up in the middle. Yes Crash-I do change around every tag I ever get.

1. Getting up early to go running.
2. Women's professional sports. I'm sorry-don't hate me for this, but it's true. I love to play and to compete---but I never have any desire to watch women play professionally. And I know I'm not alone in this. (I have at least 11 brothers to back me up, if nothing else)
3. Gwenyth Paltrow. Seriously---could there be anyone more annoying?
4. Hilary Swank---yep, she's more annoying.
5. Contestants on the Biggest Loser that try to work the system.
6. Celebrities that think their opinion is more important since they make exorbitant amounts of money.
7. People that say I speak incorrectly when really I just have a Utah accent. (This may be directed at the crazies in AZ.)
8. When guys wear pink. Or purple. It just shouldn't happen-and no, I don't think there are any exceptions.
9. Unnecessary planning meetings in the church.
10. Winter in February.
11. St. Patrick's Day. Cuz really---what is the point of this holiday?
12. The song "Unwritten." I swear, it makes my ears bleed.

*And now---since I don't want to be entirely negative, I'm listing 11 things I just plain love.
1. The feeling I get after finishing a serious run.
2. Playing intramural sports.
3. Reese Witherspoon
4.
5. Kristin from the Biggest Loser. And the Tongan team.
6. People that don't realize how important their opinion is.
7. People that speak with accents.
8. When guys wear snap shirts.
9. People I get to work with because of my church calling.
10. Winter in December.
11. The Fourth of July. And the 24th, too.
12. The song, "I Don't Feel Like Dancin" by Scissor Sisters. Great song. And also, "Love Me Dead" by Ludo.

Did you guys catch how I did opposite things? I'm real clever like that. And no, it was not a mistake that I left #4 blank. I couldn't think of another celebrity that I like.

Did you know that I always love your reflections about celebrities?

And way to balance the hate with the love. :)

These were perfect! Much head nodding and an, "Amen Sista", or two. Very clever.

That's a great list! I also love the Tongan team on Biggest Loser. Way to word it all opposite like. Very clever!

there were more than a few nods of agreement over here... at least 11 out of twelve - and that's only because I'm not sure what song that is without actually hearing it... and since I'm afraid of blood pouring from my ears I haven't looked it up yet...

oh - and the loves, I had to disagree with you on running altogether... early, late, whenever... but can I make up for it by double loving accents?

stupid double clicks...

Reese is probably one of my crossovers. You know, the celebrity I would make out with if I were gay.

I think this particular "tag" thing is funny. It cracks me up to hear what people hate, sorry no offense intended(I have not responded to my tag yet, so I can still chuckle at everyone else's).
Someone I know recently listed as one of her hates: black and brown together. I actually think the day I read it, I was wearing those two colors!!! But I must agree with those before me, impressed you listed the loves.

there's nothing that makes me want to dance more than the scissor sisters singing I don't feel like dancing. I love it.

I'm in total agreement with a lot of your list, but especially #5 on your love list. Great lists!!

Sorry about the double comment. I guess me and T are having the same issues.

I really liked #4 on your list, because I know if you could you would have inserted my name, but since I'm not a celebrity "per se" you had to leave me out (I see how you work.)
And the accent thing, what up wit dat? Question...do you say root beer or rut beer. I just had it pointed out to me that I say rut beer and that "supposedly" is the incorrect way to say it.

i hate getting up early. period.

thanks for sharing that video with us. however, it makes me feel like dancing. (they must be doing the opposite thing like you. clever, very clever.)

You are tricky! And believe it or not, Washingtonians have accents too - which I only know because of all the Utahans who laughed at me when I went to college.

I LOVE YOUR LISTS!! You write the best lists ever. Guys with snap shirts. ha ha ha haha

I love that you change your tags. I just ignore mine, like I ignore every other pressing matter in my life.

I better take Unwritten off my playlist. I would hate to make your ears bleed. ;) But I'm adding some Motion City Soundtrack. They are awesome! I am loving them!

And you're right about Winter in Dec/Feb. And St. Patricks Day too.

Ha ha ha Totally laughting at your LOVE ME DEAD link. hee hee hee

You rock!

Rick wears pink sometimes. And he looks hot. :)

I'm glad you did the second part, because seeing this meme around kind of makes me feel, well, negative.

But I do agree with most of the things you posted. Except about St. Patrick's Day, because that's the only time all year when I can wear green.

T said...

I just realized that you never mentioned how much you love your hot red shoes! What? no matching hate? - what about mismatched flip-flops?

(okay, I only noticed because I went out yesterday and bought some new hot red heels of my own... but I have to wait until I can stretch the toe box a tiny bit so I don't DIE wearing them!)

I love change -- I think everybody needs a little "Feng shui" now and then. And I agree about your #12 hate song -- they play just too much on the radio -- but I have to admit, I was not familar with the Scissors Sisters. They kind of remind me of what a child would turn out to be if Billy Idol, Abba, and Peter Gabriel were their parents. Maybe. And I couldn't help but wonder if you left #4 love open to insert the name of a certain significant other that must remain nameless for the time being. Especially after that guys-that-wear-snap-shirts comment. Are you trying to tell somebody something?

Thanks for being a great sport!

I just watched the Scissor Sisters music video. And it is a good song. (Thanks) and I just kept thinking how I would never look as good in leather pants as the lead singer. Cuz Dang!

I've never heard of "Unwritten." And hee hee, I like Gwyneth Paltrow. It's Renee Zellweger I don't like.

Hey, my mom's birthday is St. Patricks day!!! RU! (yes, that was bonqui qui saying rude!) Second, I think you should stop being so stubborn about pink and purple on guys....it is called fashion! You should try it sometime...oh ru! Just kidding, I know you can't hear the tone in my voice, but if you could, you would be laughing. Okay, bye. Oh, and I am way curious about the comment that got deleted, what is up with that?

this is fun. Great to know you better...

even though you went for 24, you still conformed. just admit it. but in an innovative way.

i have a purple polo i wear, almost solely out of obligation to my mom, who got it for me for Christmas one year. no exception possible?

Deb said...

We are so on the same wavelength... except I don't run and the feeling I get after exercise is more "nausea" than "satisfaction," but other than that...

I agree with your list on many levels!
I especially like the tongans and Kristin on Biggest Loser too! Love that show period!
And I LOVE the 4th of July too!

Good thing you don't live in New England! St. Patrick's is the day of all days here. Secretly, I love that. Oh, and secretly, when I lived in Utah, I hated the 24th. Shhh! Don't tell anyone. Sacrelig - I know.

Amen to the too many planning meetings in the church!

Oh, and I totally make fun of my husband's Utah accent, especially the way he says creek and theater. hehehe

Love your switch-a-roo with the lists. You ARE clever like that!

THANK GOD my kids are finally on the mend and I can start commenting again. I have to say that I am a bit disappointed to read your favorites list, Barbaloot. The missing #4 should obviously have been Ms. Alicia Silverstone for Clueless.

Please don't let this type of oversight happen again. E-mail me before publishing.

PS: I am SO tagging you on my next meme. You approach these damn things like I do, with loathing and a desire to change them to make things more interesting.

3 Bay B Chicks said...

As I was closing your blog, I noticed that I was not on your "people" list. WTF? Why am I not one of your people? Barbaloot, I thought our commitment to one another was strong.

Great post--and great blog--you kept me laughing! It was fun to meet you at lunch today and I hope you keep your blog updated on your running because of course I want to hear about that, but if you don't, I'm pretty sure I will be entertained with whatever it is you have to say.

LaurieJ said...

Do Becca and I look like we are stalking you now? :-) But I am happy I found your blog because we would get along after reading this post! But does that change if I add Jennifer Aniston to the hate list?
Good luck on your running!

Barb, I'm so glad you could come yesterday! It was great to meet you for about 3 seconds.

Hope your soccer game went well!

That Utah accent thing cracks me up! I probably shouldn't say it, but the Utah accent drives me crazy! I always laugh in my head at all of the missionaries with a distinct accent. Most people ask, "so where are you from?" whenever they meet a new missionary. I try to guess by their accent and it's usually Utah or Arizona.
