Why Soccer Is The Best Sport Ever

Mostly soccer is the best sport ever because it's the most fun. And it's so exciting. It's a way bigger deal in soccer when you score than in, say, basketball.

But also, soccer is the best sport because it's still so accessible in the professional arena. Tickets are still relatively cheap, games are pretty frequent during the summer months and best of all, the players are still humble and willing to talk to fans. Not only that, they thank you for coming to their game and sitting in the rain! Seriously-how cool is that?

I went to the RSL opener tonight and after it was over, my brother and I wanted to try and get the attention of one of our favorite players, Frankie Hejduk. He plays on the US National Team and is one of the best defenders out there. Not only did we get his attention, he had us follow him into the tunnel towards the locker room so we could get out of the rain and take a picture with him! It was awesome. After he left, we stuck around a few more minutes and proceeded to get pictures with several other players. There's no way you can do that with athletes in any other professional sport.
My sister-in-law and I also had our own arm's-length-photo-shoot before the game. Um---those are hard pictures to take! And I personally think this is the best one. She and I will be going to THIS PLACE on Saturday and if you'd like tips on taking pictures like that, we'll be happy to help.

I am thinking about going to The Prom Bomb too! I will let you know if I go. Maybe we can hook up. In a non-lesbian way.

soccer is for commie-loving pot-smokers.

You have many good points about soccer, but it's so not the best sport! Sorry! :) You are super cute, and so is buffy! And why are you going to that place??

I am taking my girls to the womens nationals there in May. I have never been to a Real game before. Do most soccer players look like that man? I might go more often ;-)

soccer is super popular here in vegas. there are soccer fields popping up all over town.

i will give in to the fact that many soccer players are H O T T. hello david beckham.

That's awesome you were able to get pictures with the players. I tried to go to a Real Madrid game in Madrid once and the tickets were waaaaaay expensive.
The only time I attempted to play soccer I got a black eye. I'll leave it to the professionals.

I didn't know Michael Bolton played soccer.

I can't wait to take a terribly ugly and scary picture of you and post it on my blog, and then e-mail it to all my friends, and maybe go down to BYU and put it up on the wall there.. YOU ARE SUCH A BRAT!! Why that one? There were ones that were way cuter than that. I new it wouldn't take you long to post these pictures. YOUZ A HOE!! Oh, and I don't know if I am going with you to that thing on tomorrow night, cause we aren't friends anymore.

I'm with Laurie--maybe we should go if we get views like that! What a fun night and a great memory.

1. Great picture. Those are hard to take.

2. I love soccer, but I've never been to a game. I have been to an IHL hockey game, though, and it was a blast.

I'm afraid I'm not yet on board with the soccer craze. Any sport with that much running involved is not for me! I can appreciate the excitement in scoring, but I still prefer the more action-packed, fast-paced sports.

How awesome, though, to be able to meet the players. Were they all sweaty and smelly? That might be the only downer.

P.S. I saw Amy Terry the other day and she says 'Hi'.

See, all I can think is how glad my son (the one with coordination skills) is more into dancing than soccer. I just didn't get any sports genes, I guess ...

Dang, I just can't get into soccer but I need to hook you up with my sister, she lovesss soccer!

Nice arm length pics, I like the color coordinated outfits.

I don't understand soccer although my hubby's bro is a HUGE fan and played for Westminster College. I think soccer players are generally cute though --so makes for good eye candy during the game at least.
You and your sis in law----great shot. Not just anyone can come up with an expression like that. (thank goodness--tee,hee)

How fun for you! It's nice that some people actually care about the fans.

Hey now, careful with the basketball talk. While I totally appreciate soccer, although I never played it, basketball kind of rocks.

Although a pro-soccer game would probably be more fun to watch - I'll give you that.

It's not very often that you and Joey are in pictures with people who are as cool as you, but I think Frankie is a serious contender.

What is this Prom Bomb that you speak of, Barbaloot? You are so much cooler than I am. I have no idea.

Please take pictures of whatever "up-do" you may be getting.

I played soccer in high school. Not on the school team, though, cuz I wasn't that talented. BUT, I earned the most-improved-player award by the end of the year. I think I'll put that on my headstone...

Okay, I can't believe Ron is still there. Brown must die. I wish she would have cut Helen loose, that woman bugs.

I used to kind of like Jillian, but now I kind of hate Jillian.

I couldn't agree more, hence why it our national sport over here.

Of course that being the case you'd be paying at least $80 a ticket and the players are so overpaid they couldn't give a fig about the fans but arem ore excited about their ferrari's and bling.

Except David Beckham of course. He's just perfection.
