Scenery and Such

One of the best parts of New Zealand was how amazingly gorgeous it was! My cousins and I went on a day hike just outside of Rotorua in a rain forest type place that was very green and very lovely. There were double rainbows as we drove home that we tried to capture, but my digital just couldn't fully show how beautiful it was! After the hike, we stopped at a natural hot spring (shockingly enough it smelled of rotten eggs!) to take a little swim.

Of course you HAVE to stop for pictures when you see a ginormous chair like this.

There were sheep everywhere!

See?

This is at Piha; a black beach where they filmed the second Johnny Lingo. It was SO amazingly beautiful! We had the place basically to ourselves for a good hour and half and had fun hiking around, playing and jumping in the waves, and taking crazy pictures. We wanted to stay for the sunset, but I was a little nervous about driving back on the winding, rainy road so we decided to forego that option.

I can't explain why, but I just think this picture is great. I love the outline of the feet in the review mirror. So relaxing and carefree.

Coming up: the two craziest things I did in New Zealand.

Everything looks so fun...sure it was winter...who cares! I would sniff rotten eggs all day just to be there! And tim tams! So cool!

I don't know if you knew, but my family is from NZ. I would have sent ya'll there to say hi and get some local touring from my cousins. They might have welcomed you onto our family Marae. I hope ya'll went to Hot Water Beach. It's a lot of fun digging yourself a hot-tub of your own.

The pic of you on the huge chair is wonderful. I have one just like it from when I was 2. I'm glad you had so much fun.

So I've always heard that NZ is really beautiful, but your pictures have now convinced me that I MUST vacation there sometime. Especially since I just love sheep!

So picture number one? Those little white circles? My cousin told me that when they show up it's because there are ghosts in the picture. Just thought I'd let you know. (They could also be tiny water droplets caught by the sun while you took the picture - but since I'm jealous of your amazingly beautiful vacation I'm going to pretend that they're ghosts. That will make me feel better - and that's what it's all about.)

I'm so happy to see the pictures of the sheep. The one thing I know about New Zealand (that I learned from "The Thorn Birds").

These are all so wonderful, but I seriously think I'm going to have nightmares about that larger than life sheep thing. Really, it's quite disturbing. What was it, actually? Some sort of ovine temple?
