Random Randomness

I don't know if Motherboard is doing her Random Fridays with tunes yet. I'm writing this on Thursday and setting it to post on Friday. I've never tried to pre-write a post before. I just write when I feel like it, and then hit publish. We'll see if this works.

*****

I have a serious amount of movies. And I organize them by genre and then alphabetically. My biggest genre is chick flick, but my favorite genre is sports. The most recent addition to sports was Forever Strong. Great movie.

*****

I have even more books than I have movies. Shelves and shelves of books. Some shelves are doubled up. I have boxes of books up in the attic. I just bought a new book yesterday. Libraries are all well and good, but I like to own my books.

*****

I have a lot of music, too. I don't buy CD's as much, because now I just use youtube, playlist, or itunes to listen to what I really want. I have long lists of music that I like to listen to, though. And I own LOTS of piano music. More music than I could play in a week. And you know how I double up my books? I do that with sheet music, too. When I accompany, I put sheet music in those clear page holders. And then when I get a new song to accompany, I put that in front of what I already had. It just keeps getting thicker and thicker.

*****

In the past 3 days I've eaten 12 apples. I think I've become addicted. But there are worse things to be addicted to, right? I don't eat apples whole. I only like them if they've been cut up.

*****

I love Thanksgiving. I refuse to steamroll it by getting into the wonderfulness of Christmas yet. I need to focus just on that holiday. We used to have MASSIVE family gatherings for Thanksgiving. For some reason, those gatherings have gotten smaller and smaller over the years. I tried to make it a big one this year...had my mom invite more of her siblings and what not. But they're all busy with they're own families. Stupid growing up and having new families.

*****

I have only one song for this Friday's tunes: The Future Freaks Me Out by Motion City Soundtrack. Good song. Accurate.

I am soooo with ya on Thanksgiving getting its own time. I love it!

And Yay for bookshelves that are all doubled up. :)

I started throwing away any extra sheet music (copies) that people have given me to accompany them, it started getting out of control, and I don't have a good system to keep track of them all.
But I love collecting music books too! Love love love it.

You and I are so alike, it's scary. Really. Even eating apples cut up.

Eating twelve apples is definitely better than eating twelve Krispy Kreme doughnuts. Well for you waisteling anyway.

I love apples too. I usually slather them in peanut butter or caramel, but I'm sure it has the same effect.

I keep trying to make Thanksgiving huge again too but the older adults don't seem as into the idea :-)
We should swap books some time. I have to keep buying more bookshelfs and my husband (a non-reader) just keeps rolling his eyes!

Are you on Goodreads?

I'm one of the evil people who push right by Thanksgiving and get my Christmas decorations out mid November. Mostly because I don't actually own any Thanksgiving decorations and I like to be festive.

Your sheet music makes me wistful. I used to play piano but I have never had one to practice on since I went off to college and beyond. I'm pretty sure I'm back to the chopsticks level of skillfulness.

I love apples too! But I enjoy eating them whole. I like that crunch when you bite into them!

well, there's the old saying: "an apple a day keeps the doctor away", but I'm guessing that could come back to haunt you if you're eating 3+/day

MMMM. Books and music and movies. I think we need a whole other house just for those. I hate not having my own book, but in the interest of being financially savvy we have been using the library more often. Bah.

Amen on the apples. Mmmm.

Does anyone eat apples whole? And does it hurt?

I'm listening to your song now! I have shelves of books too but lately have been going to the library to get the books I want to read - then when I want to refer to a particular book, I don't have it! Good job being addicted to apples, much better than chocolate milk...or is it?

I'm the same way with books. I go to DI on a regular basis and stock up.

I don't have many movies but I have lots of CD's. I don't have one of those ITune things.

and Books, LOVE books. I don't seem to read as much as I used to though as I spend TOO much time blogging. I need to get back to MORE reading.

Love thanksgiving --------will sure miss my family then
(although Canadian thanksgiving is over and done with ...and somehow not as much fun as American Thanksgiving ---or maybe that is just because I am "not into it yet"

We watched a good movie yesterday. Neat love story --kind chick flick-esk perhaps. Rent (if you haven't already) Closing The Ring and let me know what ya think.

I love Thanksgiving. But we usually have a small gathering. 4 of us. And that is just fine! I am glad we are able to have that!

I agree. Stupid families growing up. I HATE change! But at least one of my sisters has a pool :-)

I LOVE books. I try to go to the library, but when new books come out of authors I like... I have to go to Barns and Nobles.

You know what...you are...well...cool. Love these facts. I too love the big gatherings. This is our "OFF" year for thanksgiving, but my husband's side doesn't do Thanksgiving dinner, so we aren't having a big dinner. I'm sad too.

Emily said...

I agree with the apples. They are even better cut up, with the skins taken off. Mmm.

Emma said...

I love thanks giving, it is sad when things change and every one can't get together like the good old days!

I'm the same way with books. I'd prefer to own mine rather than use the library. Don't know why that is.

I totally hated that transition thing with Thanksgiving too, when the families start breaking up to have the holiday on their own. It's so sad, isn't it?

I wish my piano collection was bigger. I guess I should just work on actually being able to play the music that I have first.
And you know I'm with you on Thanksgiving. Fortunately my family isn't interested in doing our own thing yet. We would all throw a fit! Also, Thanksgiving wouldn't be normal without a crazy dance party or at least a good movie that night.

I have about 800 books and I must have more. You can never be too rich and you can never have too many books.

Thanksgiving deserves it's own song and dance, that I agree with.

PS: We've been thinking of building floor to ceiling bookshelves in our bedroom for years. You know, I'd love all that extra space to fill in with more books...as if being a Librarian isn't enough. :)

I love apples but I hate the skin. So if I eat them I either have to have them cut up or peeled. People look at me funny.

Also I'm with ya on the not passing Thanksgiving by yet. What the heck stores. Let's enjoy each holiday.
