Do You Know What's Not a Good Idea?

Leaving your bedroom window open all day when the temperature is in single digits! I was gone from 7:30 a.m. to 11:30 p.m. yesterday and when I finally walked into my bedroom to go to sleep I about died it was so cold! Seriously, my floor felt wet it was so cold, the pillows felt frozen and my 2x2 heating pad could only do so much.

Also, I think Groundhog Day is so lame. Who looks to a rodent for weather predictions? Do you know what I do to rodents? I shoot them. True story. That's me below, shooting one. Or many.

In other news, a new edition of The Barrel is out. Hooray! I still don't know how to put a picture of the magazine on my blog, so just click on the link, okay? Okay.

Amen to that!
Uh your room would have been frozen!!!
I hope you eventually warmed up.
And the rodent predicting when Spring will come....he needs to come to my -25 this morning and I'll freeze his tail off.
He'll has officially froze over.

Ha! I love you for this.

And year, it was very, very cold. It might have been colder than my heart!

I agree with the lameness but then I look at how much money that town gets from it all and I think, why didn't I think of that?

I can't really defend the lame weather prediction thing - but we celebrate to the HILT at our house :)

I'm still surprised that I never knew you were a hunter. And what were you doing with your window open in the middle of winter silly girl?

One of my friends on facebook called Groundhog day a scam. I thought that was funny. Because there are really people who believe it? I guess there are people who actually believe in horoscopes so why not a rodent that predicts the weather (poorly)? :)

And you're so violent.

I hope you shut the window.

And I was just asking myself this morning where the whole Groundhog day tradition came from. It's just strange.

And I must ask. How did you do your background? I love it!

We left our heater off once when we went out of town and when we got home it was so cold our bed was frozen stiff. Freezing! Hope things warmed up for you!

I remember that my grandma used to leave her window open a crack in the wintertime and it would freeze open. She lives in the coldest part of Minnesota when it often gets 30 below.
I actually think it was during her "hot flash" period so maybe that explains it.
I guess if you don't currently have hot flashes you would find it cold.
I probably would've frozen too.

I used to love to leave the window open when it was cold. Of course, to me "cold" is 50 degrees. What you're describing is just insanity.

Was that a 22 you were just "plinkin" around with or a larger caliber that turns rodents into fluff?

i must agree with you. why do we have a rodent predict when our spring will appear. we have educated weathermen to do that. andy you know what- they both get it wrong!!!!! have a great week shooting yur gun or whatever you have planned!

That stinks about the cold room! I have the chills just thinking about that! And the only good thing about Groundhog day for me is that's when Missy was born! And whoever thought that a rodent could predict the weather is clearly stupid!!

I do not like the cold or rodents. Good luck at avoiding both.

WOW, you're one tough chick! Look at you handle that thing--I've never shot a gun in my life!

I'm going to go out on a limb here and bet that the shadow thing has never affected the coming of spring either way.

Just a guess.

I am SO not a rodent person. And sorry about your cold room. Yuck!

17 (now 18) comments?! dang girl, i don't know if you know this...but you're kind of a big deal.

thanks for this insight--i had been looking to rodents for so many years for advice....no wonder i'm confused... ;)

ps, the word verification is gamyedne...sounds like game...somethinsumthin...dame. i think it's an omen for another girls' game night.

Is shooting them stress relieving? I could pound away at a few if so. You are right. Why look at a rodent? Let's use me next year.

You and my oldest daughter would get along well - two skinny brunettes who own shotguns and shoot rodents!! Yayyyyy and thanks!

Wow, leaving your bedroom window open when it is freezing outside isn't a good idea. I hope you have finally thawed out.

And I saw the magazine yesterday, and saw that you had an awesome article in it. Yay you!

Weather? Probably not; but, Punxsutawney Phil could probably have predicted that leaving your window open in this nasty cold was not a good plan for an early spring like feeling.

Can't wait to check out The Barrel.

ha ha, I love the photo of you with the rifle. I still need Mr. Gorgeous to teach me to shoot.....we have wild life ya know. I might have to shoot me a grizz one of these days

but first I'll start with a rodent

and I am leaving Utah for the bitter temps of alberta (I'd cry but my tear drops would probably freeze on my cheeks)

Awesome picture. Why did you open your window in the first place? Were you pretending to be like your mom or something? I love your blog SO much. I have been failing at mine, but I finally updated it. Now I'm going to go read The Barrel.

Your 2x2 heating pad just didn't warm things up? That's funny!
You know how to take care of rodents! We have a gopher in our yard that has done some heavy burrowing. Can you come over with your trusty gun and help us get rid of him?

Cranberryfries said...

Ok super funny about shooting the rodents. :)
And the Barrel, how fun is that. I saw your great article!

I wish you and your gun lived closer to me when we were having our squirrel problems! :)
