Okay fine--- I've stuck my foot in my mouth at work lots of times. But this one just barely happened.
Also, can we pause for just a second and acknowledge how weird that saying is? In reality, my lack of flexibility would never allow my foot to reach my mouth. And if I say something stupid does that mean I already put my foot in my mouth, or that I need to do that?
Back to my story. My boss came into work today all pleased about these new shoes he bought and asked my opinion. It was obvious he wanted validation and I'm usually pretty good and giving that. But for some reason I was struck mute. And then I kind of let out a prolonged "um?" that was an octave above my normal voice. What is wrong with me?
But I didn't stop there. I told him they kind of reminded me of polio shoes and I was half expecting to see a brace extending out the heel and up his leg. Seriously?! Who says stuff like that?
Me apparently. That's not only offensive to him, but quite possibly to the entire polio community. I'm sorry.
He told me to stop talking after that.

I'm Thankful Five
I'm so excited for Thanksgiving!! I thought it would be a good idea to run a 4 mile race in the morning which will probably be lame, but after that it's gonna be a great day.
I've actually already put up a few (very few) Christmas decorations and I may or may not be listening to Michael Buble's Christmas album right now...but I'm still excited for Thanksgiving!! Swear. The only reason I decorated early was cuz I got in major cleaning mode at my house and decided to get everything organized and set up at once. And I was in major cleaning mode cuz I got new furniture for my room and had to get that all put together. My room actually looks like a grown-up room now---not your average college dorm. Not that there's anything wrong with college dorms. But I have an actual bed now, with a matching dresser and even a night stand. Like I might actually be in my house semi-permanently or something. Weird.
You know what else is weird? This picture from our ward Thanksgiving party. There are two boys that were cut out because the person taking the picture didn't realize they were leaning in and posing? At least, he looks like he was leaning...
Happy Thanksgiving!!
What are you Thankful Five?

So, this one time...
My cousin Becky thinks I need to blog again. I think she's crazy. Anyway. I was gonna tell you about all the awesome things for which I'm thankful---tis the season and all---but then I decided to tell you a story instead.
I went to a gas station. To get gas. And the first pump I went to had a screen that didn't work. So after trying for a few minutes to figure out what to do, I gave up and pulled up to the next pump. Only I didn't pull up far enough. And after putting in my card and entering my zip code, I realized that the hose couldn't reach my car. Awesome. So I had to put the hose back in the pump, turn my car back on, pull forward, turn my car back off, get the hose back out...but then the pump started being temperamental and wouldn't work and I needed gas!! But also I was really embarrassed. So I drove away to another gas station. And this station wouldn't authorize my card till I went inside. So that's what I did. And I finally got gas. But it was a nightmare.
The end.

I Feel Like Everyone Needs To See This
On a different note---when did blogger become super different? I almost created a new blog without realizing it when all I wanted to do was write a new post.

Memorial Day Fun
During Memorial Weekend we always visit the East Lawn Cemetery where my grandparents are buried. He served as a Colonel in the Air Force and she was the most patriotic women I ever knew. It's a beautiful cemetery and I love seeing the flags they put up on that weekend.
It was a wonderful, relaxing, not-do-anything-important weekend. I loved it! Little kids played outside, we had a birthday celebration, and enjoyed shish-ka-bobs. I wish there could be a weekend like this every month!
Cutest twin girls ever? I think so.
Grandpa feeding Macie her first cantaloupe and teaching her how to play Mormon Bridge. I love how tiny her hands are next to his.
Alli blocking Christian from blowing out her candles.
It was a little too cold to swim, but the boys loved it anyway

Because Nothing but Reality TV Could Make Me Wanna Blog Again
So, I'm watching the Bachelorette (yes I watch it) (and I like it) and I keep hearing the phrase, "Today could be the first day of the rest of my life." Well. You know what? EVERY day is the first day of the rest of your life. That's just silly.
Also, please bless that the Utah boy gets different hair. What is that?

What Would YOU Do?
So, if you hate your current phone with a fiery passion and are having issues with your current carrier, would you take the plunge and get an iphone? Even though it's gonna be about $20/month more? And even though your current contract isn't up yet?
If you hadn't seen or heard from a good friend in over a week, would you make 'missing person' posters to put on his car and door? And then, when he didn't think it was funny would you punch him in the teeth? Cuz seriously, it was really funny.
If you were going on a trip to the LA area, would you take the time to go to actual LA where they have the stars on the sidewalk and such?
Brown Toms or Red Toms? (Say red, cuz I actually already bought them)

I Got Tagged
By Shanna over at Just So. So now you guys get to find out even more random stuff about me. I know---you're super excited.
But first, my late roommate, Emily, pretty much told me she doesn't like my blog anymore cuz there are no pictures of me. So here's one of me. Or maybe the side of my head while I shake Mitt Romney's hand!
And this is not an invitation for a political discussion. You have your candidate, I have mine and I don't want to argue about/discuss it on my blog. K thanks.
And fine, here's a picture with my face(and my mom's, my aunt's and my cousins') when we got to see the Stars on Ice 10 Year SLC Olympic Anniversary Performance.
Anyway.
-Soda or Pop? Um, well I call it pop. Cuz that's what it is. But I don't drink either. I don't like the burny feeling in my throat.
-What would you consider your best trait? Definitely my humility. Okay, maybe not. Um, I really love my family. Maybe that doesn't seem like a trait...but I like that part of myself.
-What advice would you give to yourself at 13? To relax. And to be nice to everyone. The people that you say mean or snotty things to will always appear again in your life. You don't wanna be embarrassed about your earlier actions.
-Romance, Action or Mystery/Thriller? Yes please. Except for take the thriller out of the mystery. Romance combined with action combined with mystery. That's good stuff.
-Would you rather vacation on the West coast or the East? Well, I'd rather travel and sight see around the east coast, but I'd rather vacation in the west. Vacation means family and rest. Travel means seeing and learning.
-Who is your favorite literary character? Can I say Ammon, from the Book of Mormon? cuz him. And for sure Atticus from "To Kill A Mockingbird." Ooh, or Haymitch. Love him.
-What makes you laugh? This video:
-What would you buy if someone handed you $100 and told you to go and spend it on yourself? I'd do something really exciting and pay bills with it. I know. I'm awesome.
-What song speaks to you most at this moment? Well, I wouldn't say it exactly speaks to me...but I listen to it a lot cuz I'm trying to learn it and banjo is hard!
-Do you have a favorite poem or quote? If life hands you lemons, give them back and ask for chocolate. Not just cuz it's kinda sassy, but also cuz it really is a good point. If you don't like what you're given, work for something better.
-When was the last time you cried? Oh gosh-last night reading a really cheesey book. Like I said before, I'm awesome.
Now, I get to tag 11 other lucky people!

Things I Think
-I don't like when shows have a "Coming Up" right before commercial break. I feel like it spoils things. I understand doing a "Next Week On" type thing, but if the show is just breaking for 3 minutes, you can relax. I'll see what's coming up then.
-I love Marisa Tomei. She's so cute. I just watched her episode of 'Who Do You Think You Are' (great show) and she speaks Italian! How awesome is that?
-Almost as awesome as Steve Martin playing banjo. Yep-he plays banjo. And he's good!
-The phrase, "heart of hearts." What does that even mean? I get irrationally irritated when people say it.
-My Fair Lady has an awful ending. Why doesn't she marry Freddy?
-Even though the world is sometimes kinda scary, (which freaks me out) there are still lots of good people in it (which gives me hope)! My dad and I went to Costco the other day to purchase some very large, very heavy items. Loading them into the cart, pushing them around and getting them into the car would not have been possible were it not for the many very nice, very much complete strangers that offered to help. Seriously, I was amazed at how many people we willing to stop what they were doing to help us. I wanna be that type of person.
-Finally, I'm addicted to Kraft instant mac&cheese. That's healthy, right?

I'm Gonna Catch Scoliosis from my House
You guys, my house is crooked. No joke. I was in my basement the other night having a reasonably serious conversation with a friend when I stopped in the middle and said, "I think my window is crooked." We measured. Turns out it is. Awesome. There also may be an issue with my front door. Should I be worried about this? I mean, I kind of am cuz oh, IT'S MY HOUSE!!! I tried to take a picture to illustrate said crookedness, but the picture looks fine so now I kind of feel like I'm insane.
Speaking of which (the house, not the insanity), I'm trying to do a little bit of decorating (including curtains...maybe). So I need your help/opinion. My basement is just a TV room---nothing else. Right now all I have in it is my little red couch/hide-a-bed that I love. So, I'm gonna either get one giant love sac OR two less giant love pillows. What should I do? I keep changing my mind.
I know. It's a hard decision, right? What would YOU do?

Best Thing Ever?
I think so.
Equally awesome is that "Let's Go to the Mall" by Robin Sparkles is on Just Dance 3.
Not awesome? Curtains. I hate them. Well, that is, I hate trying to figure them out and put them in my house. Who wants to help me with curtains? I don't know what color or what style and I'm lost. I'll pay you. In yummy cookies. And maybe a gift card.

It's National Peanut Butter Day!!
I'm trying to figure out how to celebrate. Reese's peanut butter cups, peanut butter and jelly sandwich, peanut butter and celery? Probly just a straight spoonful of peanut butter from the jar. Crunchy, of course.
Also, I've been thinking lately that it might be really boring to be a baby. I mean, they can't do anything but lie down. Maybe sit up if someone is willing to hold them that way. What if they're thinking, "Man, if I could just lift my head up things would be SO much better!!" Or, "I want to stretch my legs, but they just keep going back into the frog leg position."
Or maybe they don't care.
And another thing. Captain Crunch cereal tastes really good if you just eat it dry. But it's not so good with milk. Why is that? It rips your mouth to shreds either way you eat it, though.

Too Many Things
I've found I can't just concentrate and do one thing at a time anymore. If I'm watching TV, I have to have my banjo or guitar out and try to figure out songs. Cuz that makes for some great practicing... If I'm reading a book, I also have music in the background and I'm probly making a CD. Even right now, I'm in the middle of writing a document for work, listening to music, doing bank statement things and a blog post. Why can't I just do one thing? What did I do to shrink my attention span and how can I get it back? I can't even just sit down and read a book anymore. I have to have things going on in my head, in the background and I'll stop every few chapters just to find something new to do for a minute. I need to slow my brain down.
How?
Does anyone else have this problem?
I blame technology. I'm so used to getting things so quickly, that now I can't just slow down and wait.
Also, I keep having dreams about TV shows I've never watched. It's weird. I don't know anything about the show, so how can I dream about it? And why am I dreaming about TV shows anyway?

Apparently it's 2012
I guess no one in my neighborhood made resolutions to exercise more. Or if they did, their schedules are different than mine cuz I haven't had to fight anyone for the treadmill at the clubhouse. Cheers to that.
****
I have a new niece. Her name is Macie and so far she really likes me.
****
I heard Taylor Swift is going to play Eponine in the new Les Mis? It's nice that Hollywood listened to me on the Hugh Jackman thing and all, but I guess they didn't hear me say Lea Michelle would do a better job than Taylor. I think Taylor's great, but she's not Eponine.
****
I'm liking the "warm" weather we're having, but I severely distrust it. It just means it'll probly be snowy and cold all the way into April.
****
Happy New Year! My word for this year, I just decided, is EXCELLENT. We should all be EXCELLENT to each other.
